Analog Tapes (hi-8, 8mm, VHS-C)

Con: Low quality, additional hardware needed to import media onto a PC

Suited for: Users on a budget

Analog tapes are not recommended as they are outdated and only yield low quality video and audio. They are relatively cheap, but do not work adequately enough to be considered a digital camcorder for your special occasion. The amount of megapixels they capture is not up to par with the real thing.

An alternative to analog tapes is their evolved form, digital. The price difference is worth the upgrade, I would not suggest analog tapes to anyone living in the 21st century, the media type is outdated and no longer relevant.

Digital Quality

When zooming with your video camcorder, has it ever paused to some extent and then continue to zoom? That is considered digital zoom, and is not exactly the zoom that we are familiar with. The camcorder is not exactly looking forward; it is actually only enlarging a portion of the picture, while the pixels remain unchanged. To fix this error, purchase camcorders with more optical zoom; or simply go into the configurations of the camcorder and disable the digital zoom feature.

Because of the media format, it is not possible to import the recorded media onto editing or DVD transferring programs. The Micro MV is a fading media type, this is causing third party programs to lessen.
